IMAGE: zámek a kostel ŽinkovyThe town of Žinkovy, set in the gently rolling landscape of the south of the Pilsen Region, has always been a place where things happen. Even today, thanks to its convenient location on the main routes of Klatovy–Nepomuk and Pilsen–Sušice, it is a popular destination for trips, vacations and weekend getaways.

The cultural monuments that have accompanied the people of Žinkovy for centuries include the Gothic Church of St Wenceslas, located in the centre of the town. It is significant, above all, for its unique sculptural decorations by the eminent regional Baroque artist Lazar Widemann. Widemann was a Czech sculptor and carver working predominantly in the Czech lands. He was the most important and probably the most talented artist of the generation immediately following Matthias Bernard Braun. Besides the church, visitors are mostly attracted by the Žinkovy Castle, which, thanks to the ongoing reconstruction, is growing in beauty and lures visitors for walks in the surroundings. Its rich history was rewritten by the historical reconstruction, so this time the Baroque style will be presented primarily through the prepared programme.
