IMAGE: Spálené PoříčíSpálené Poříčí is the only place in the Pilsen Region which has been awarded the title of Historical Town of the Year, and it didn’t happen by chance. The city is enchanting due to its atmosphere of an early 20th century country estate, always friendly and welcoming. Visitors can explore a variety of attractions – a Renaissance chateau with a park, the Baroque granary Ve Dvoře presenting a permanent exhibition of the humorous cartoons of Jiří Winter-Neprakta with old brewery cellars in its vicinity, monuments of Jewish settlements, the Church of St Nicholas, a Baroque building of deanery, a folk timbered house (today's tourist information centre opened year-round), a mill with a functioning mill wheel, Baroque statues on the square and much more. Lovely rolling countryside invites one to take walks and rest, nature lovers can find two nature trails in the immediate surroundings of the city – they are Hvížďalka and the newly opened trail Through Meadows and Woods to a Fairy Tale.

PROGRAMME

The picturesque town of Spálené Poříčí will host the symbolic opening of the 9 Weeks of Baroque festival. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the town, an exhibition by children from an elementary art school or the mobile cultural centre Bus Line 2015 with a theatrical programme. The evening will culminate in a concert of Baroque music performed by Michael Pospíšil and the music ensemble Ritornello with an original programme held in the Baroque garner.
