The monastery in Pivoň ranks among the oldest Baroque monuments of its kind in the Czech Republic. Come and explore this mysterious, forsaken place in the heart of the Czech Palatine Forest. There is a reason that Pivoň used to serve as an air spa. Being situated in a valley with several ponds, it takes in the life-giving air sliding down here from the surrounding virgin forests. Tourists have started discovering the Czech Palatine Forest only in recent years and Pivoň is still waiting to see its rise. In their time immemorial, the Augustinians had a very good reason to settle and build one of the biggest monasteries right here. Discover the place where fresh air from the forest blends with the fascinating local history and undiscovered secrets.
As part of the festival, the Pivoň monastery will resound with the musical recitals of mandolinist Petr Vrobel; historian Zdeněk Procházka will bring back the history of Pivoň; Josef Nejdl from the Museum of Chodsko and M. Válová will reveal some curiosities, from the ethnography branch and beyond.
