BELIEVERS / ST GEORGE'S CHURCH IN LUKOVÁ BY MANĚTÍN
The exhibition Believers by J Hadrava in the defunct church, a dance performance by A Miltnerová, a concert by I and V Havel.
One of the nicely situated villages in the Manětín area is the very old village of Luková, spread along the hillside of Chlumská Mountain with a view over the landscape. It is almost uninhabited today but in the first half of the 20th century it was still a lively village with a school and the medieval Parish Church of St George which has been standing against time, shaded by the trees and shrubbery flourishing at the old cemetery. The church received attention again in 2012 thanks to the artistic installation Believers. This permanent exhibition has fascinated local and foreign visitors as well as important international media. A student of the Faculty of Art and Design of the University of West Bohemia, Jakub Hadrava, placed more than 30 plaster statues of people praying on disintegrating church benches, symbolically reminding us of the transience of time and the eternity of life.
A Day for Luková will offer access to the church and an afternoon and evening programme with guided tours of the church and the exhibition Believers by Jakub Hadrava, Baroque refreshments and a dance performance by the Baroque Movement Theatre of Andrea Miltner. The programme next to the church will be concluded by a concert by Irena and Vojtěch Havel. The backdrop of the programme will be provided by Bus Line 2015. From 9:00pm, the programme will continue at the St Anne's Chapel in Nečtiny.
